TEXAS OUTDOOR MUSICAL PERFORMS RAIN OR SHINE

TEXAS will only offer rain checks if a performance is canceled before intermission. The show may be put on hold for rain and may resume at any time. Only after a public announcement is made of cancellation, will rain checks be offered.

Rain checks are valid for life and good for any performance in the future. If a show is canceled during the second act, it is considered a full show. For information on our no-risk purchase and exchanges, visit our policies and terms.


BBQ Dinners and Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum tickets can be purchased after show tickets are picked in your transaction. If you decide to buy dinners after you have purchased tickets, please call 806-651-2181 to add those dinners to your order.

Dinner must be ordered by 4:00 PM the day BEFORE your show date.


Sample Itinerary

6 PM - Arrive at the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon State Park and head down to the Pioneer Amphitheatre. Upon arrival, please send the group leader to our box office to let us know you have arrived.

6:30 PM - Time for the Back Stage Tour! Get ready for a behind the scenes look at how TEXAS is produced. Tours last 20-30 minutes and can be done any time during this period. Patrons will learn how cast and crew work daily. If you’re lucky, you might even get to see the stars of the show before it starts!

6:30 PM - 8 PM - Head up to our dinner pavilion and enjoy our dinner from Fat Boys. Brisket and sausage plate with beans, potato salad, coleslaw, a roll, dessert and a drink. We will also include a condiment bar with pickles, onion, jalapenos, and BBQ sauce.

7 PM - 7:45 PM - Still have some extra time before the show starts? Enjoy pre-show entertainment on the Prairie Dog Stage.

7:45 PM - The Pioneer Amphitheatre doors to the show for the general public open. Please see a Front of House Associate if you require handicapped assistance.

8:15 PM - “TEXAS” begins with the rider on the rim waving the Texas flag on top of the canyon wall.

10:45 PM – Show ends. Load up and head out. Have a safe trip!


Donate your ticket option. Texas Panhandle Heritage Foundation (TPHF), the producer of TEXAS Outdoor Musical, is a 501 c 3, charitable organization. If you cannot attend the performance due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstance, you may choose to donate your group purchase to TPHF. This request can be made up to 48 hours before performance time by the ticket buyer. TPHF will send the ticket buyer a tax receipt for the donation. If you are issued a rain check due to the cancellation of a performance, and you are not able to attend the show on another night, you may choose to donate your ticket to TPHF in the same manner.
